I have witnessed backslope airmass decent rates of +3000 fpm ... you're not gonna climb out of that in anything.   


also I've been in a situation where the upslope wind was such that, even at flat pitch and zero airspeed we were still climbing... 


 


flying in the mountains is different... and if you don't understand what's going on you can easily put yourself and crew in an unrecoverable situation.
