Saudi company (so very random management practices) run by French chief pilot (with outrageously thick accent)... so imagine the challenges.
Not a bad company, but expect to be bottom of the food chain for a while until you gain respect. Can expect a good bit of off-site time, no set schedule ever, and things never making sense. If you're a super flexible person who doesn't get frustrated by changes and people doing things that make absolutely zero sense you will probably be fine.
New aircraft and Saudi is a very different experience than other middle eastern countries. Very friendly people when away from the cities, but not completely tourist friendly either (no dual language anything outside of big cities and specific tourist sites). People are nice in the city; they're just typical big city people. Riyadh and Jeddah are expensive cities where you can find any western food or creature comforts. Name most big chain US restaurants and you'll find them there (just explore google maps).
Can be very frustrating to live/work there if the company doesn't assist you with getting housing, vehicle, etc. Not sure if they assist expats very well as they're focused on Saudi employees mostly.
As an expat expect to be given the burden of work. They're smart enough to do it mostly but the will is not always there. Some are super professional and understand/enforce high standards.
Would do it if single and/or you have a very adventurous wife, otherwise, beware a lot of frustrations. Unlike anything you've dealt with in the states. |
