Composed in West Chester, PA during the 30's.  Swan song of the Vietnam era.  Appropriate.  Though I flew helicopters over there for a year my experience of misery was zero compared to the infantry and those out in the bush doing what they did. 


Definitely change of character, involuntary type.  The Green Machine in full devolution.


Never entered my mind society would do what they did.  Even my son noticed it though I never talked about it, was just content to be home and moving on.  Some TBIs, thousands, were never diagnosed or cared about/for.  Our society at that time was a dismal failure.  Not unlike now.
