We were taught vrs as a maneuver, not an unexpected incident. i would get into it on purpose to decend straight into an LZ, often seeing the needle way past 2000fpm. Pretty hard to shoot at, easy to recover from. But it was a pretty wild oscelation on the way down. Used the 10/20/30 rule to enter. Demonstrated them right until I retired a couple of years ago. |
