Yeah, was pretty sure that's where the AC was.

It is possible that if it was in that area or was from the avionics deck then no engine fire light would have lit.

I've heard you can typically smell the smoke even if it's that far back, but that seems like a stretch. I've had electrical burn smell before just behind the passenger area in a 206B and could smell it. Anyone else have experience?

If he knew it was a fire, he certainly missed some huge fields he could have landed immediately in. Very unfortunate.

Don't discount bad company culture that could have pressured him to RTB instead of risk hitting wires or something during Land ASAP/Immediately. That has pushed many aviators to choose a really dumb course of action...

I know some folks get lit up about armchair quarterbacking but critical thinking and discussion is FAR better than just saying "RIP" or "That sucks".
Especially for the few younger aviators that get on here.
Tons of lessons learned from any accident/incident and we should always share our thoughts, experiences, FARs, RFM procedures, etc.
