1 had previous fixed wing time, went to a regional a bit before it was en vogue. Commuted, put in his time, and is now an FO at a major.

The other did a rotor to fixed wing transition program, got all his ratings while working HAA, then quit and went to a regional. Before he could get off reserve his airline shut it's doors and he was out of a job, again. He decided he'd had enough flying and now does something else entirely and seems pretty happy with it.

Other than that I know of a few others that left to go fixed wing but wasn't that close to them so I can't say if it worked out or not. All I know is they never came back to my company, so, take that for what you will.
