In fact, there was no shop steward. As soon as I got to my base, I asked the lead pilot. Cutting out the shop steward middleman has to count for something. During my tenure, the union did nothing of note. Every once in awhile, they sent out an email. One thing they were very good at, I must say. Collecting their monthly dues. That went on like clockwork.
