The really reason is Army Warrant Officers. After leaving the Vietnam era, and into the 90-00's most warrants did not have a degrees and did not have many options. So expecting low pay was expected because they had no other skills other than flying. Supply vs demand and companies like PHI and others back in the day took advantage of this for years.
IF the helicopter pilots back then would have done what airlines pilots have done, it would be hugely different.
The main one being professionalism, helicopter pilots stabbed in the back anyone to get ahead of the next guy, including working for lower pay.
Professional pilots= Airlines,
Laborer = Helicopter pilot. |
