Your checkride, you have to be able to demonstrate that you can hand fly an approach. Also, you should never divert your attention far enough away from the controls to trust the auto pilot/SAS/SCAS. Autopilots can and do fail. I had to hand fly 2 hours IFR without the auto pilot working. |
