now because there may be better things for pilots to do.  Pilots coming out of the services head for big operators like HAA ones probably out of habit thinking bigger is better.  Definitely not true.  Now retired at 75 but my best jobs were overseas and corporate here in the states.  Some corporate jobs pay extremely well and are very civilized.  Working overseas was a hoot but I suspect not nearly so these days - we're talking 40+ years past.

Point is take time to travel the industry on foot, so to speak, visit as many helicopter operations as possible - it'll be the best education prior to choosing your direction.

If you're thin skinned and still want to do HAA, especially due to the schedule, learn how to be patient in all endeavors and realize medical people are no brighter than any others though they love the exercise of busy-body and back stabbing.  Most are bachelor degrees or less and not very travelled or socialized outside their tiny circles.  I always kind of pitied them as HAA was my retirement job.  For a mature pilot the very conservative HAA standards happen to keep things fairly workable.

As to HAA management it all varies.  Best to be polite and helpful while avoiding confrontation unless necessary.

Above all play nicely with all.  Makes for a long career.
