My first go to anytime a woman tells me the HSI is off on the 407 is to check the baggage extender for purses, backpacks, overnight bags, portable electronic devices, metallic objects etc, crammed all up near the flux valve.  Pull all that out of the extender and place it in the lead pilots office where they can collect it and be reminded to not store/fly around all day with it right next to the mag sensor.
