"STRUCK A TREE WHILE LANDING" could be anything from MR clipping leaves to MR impact with substantial  limbs. Neither is good but leaves are smeary and won't involve the sudden stoppage thing (my pilot opinion).

Did a helipad/heliport search, calculated nearest sneaky tree to center of helipad? Somewhere around 60 ft, with a vicious light pole on the other side about the same range.

It only takes a few seconds to wander on your descent. Me, I always picked the most agressive obstacle and faced it at minimum rotor tip clearance to keep it from leaping out unobserved, listened to medics when they squeaked. You can usually yaw around to preferred heading once that's all done. Worked pretty well over thousands of hours. But, again, it only takes a few seconds to wander on your descent. It will happen to you, delay it as long as possible by being extra careful.
