Still “Good-ole-boys” in charge who want to do everything the army way. Learning styles, crew resources, technology management, scenario based training?

Nahh, let’s keep the 70 year old guys who still think asking for help is weakness. But when you have the elderly hiring the elderly the industry won’t change. Accident rates still going strong? Better change nothing and hope for the best

Our medical standards and approved medication is practically still the same as it was in the 70s, towers are part time due to shortages, accident rate hasn’t changed, training standards change but they just throw it in a slideshow or gloss over it because initial and recurrent training gets reduced by a day every year. Most older pilots can’t use most of the new equipment, shortages of pilots has us all working OT and getting fatigued.

Entire industry is stagnant and limping because of the “Good ol boy” and “army strong”  mentality rather than employing real change. Management gets filled with Yes-Men and it’s why nothing improves.

maybe the young don’t want to put in the work is why we’re short of pilots?  It’s a tough nut to swallow.

Young’in’s are lazy. Yup.

It’s actually the perfect response as an older pilot in the industry.

It shuts down conversation. It is a complaint. It has no scientific merit. It offers no solution.

This response is the industry in a nutshell. People in charge complain, shut down concerns, offer no solutions and nothing improves.

My last post suggested concerns in numerous areas, the good ole boys say “nah kids are lazy”. Well that’s the attitude represents what’s wrong with this industry and why it’s getting worse.

You posted a number of problems and bragged about them, however you offered no solutions. You blamed it on a generational thing or a military service thing, but offered no solutions. For the benefit of the group, please offer up some realistic solutions to the problems in aviation as a you see it. Please, please, please do not attempt to solve all of the problems you listed with “MORE MONEY, HIGHER PAY”. Let’s have some real tangible solutions….

You see that’s a straw man argument, it’s used by boomers to shift the focus to the person rather than the issues. Again, not solutions just finger pointing and changing the subject. You really are the perfect example every single time.

you can get a special issuance for just about anything. the FAA is super careful, as they should be. towers are not part time due to controller shortages. the accident rate has gone down significantly. if you don't feel you have adequate training, EVERY company I ever worked for would do extra traing and whatever you wanted at anytime to get you comfortable. you do not have to pick up extra shifts. what they do or did in the military is irrelevant. every thing you said was wrong but other than that, good post

has accidents.  If you had to focus on one circumstance, what would it be?  In the medical field this would be considered your chief complaint.  So what is your chief complaint, and what is your grand plan to resolve the issue?

you say is, PILOT ERROR is the major contributing factor to our aviation accidents.  If that's the case, our training programs are inadequate or not being properly conducted.  Threat and error management, trap and mitigate, resolve an issue before it becomes unmanageable.  If it doesn't look good, and it doesn't feel good, it's not good.  The best tools in the world are useless if you don't use them properly.

most accidents happen because pilots don't do what they're taught, either out of laziness or complacency.
