CARLISLE, Pa. — Governor Josh Shapiro said he is on his way to Carlisle, Pennsylvania, following an aircraft crash involving Pennsylvania State Police. Pennsylvania State Police and other officials are expected to hold a press conference on the incident at 10:30 p.m. This press conference will be streamed in the playfinder above once live.
The FAA said in a post that a Cessna 150 airplane and a Bell 407 helicopter collided in midair near Carlisle around 7:50 p.m. Two people were aboard the helicopter at the time of the crash. The number of people on board the Cessna remains unknown. It is unclear if any injuries have been reported. Shapiro issued a statement on Facebook, saying, "I’ve been briefed on the aircraft crash involving PA State Police this evening in Carlisle, and I am heading there now. Lori and I are praying hard, and we ask all of our fellow Pennsylvanians to join us."

Maybe some downwash from the hovering heli......moved downwind into the path of landing plane? Made plane cork screw? True story I've been slung side ways 90 degrees in clear air after a heli crossed my path. Turns out he was coming in from offshore....a 139, He had a direct tail wind. All his rotor wash was chasing him in a straight line. I was at 1500ft agl and so was he. He passed going towards LFT and I was over the Sugar mill in New Iberia just finished playing in the billowing smoke cloud from the stacks....was headed in the direction towards Lydia where I took off from. Heli closest radius to me was about 2 miles away when it passed by. I crossed his wake turb about 5 minutes after he had already left the area.....and HOLY S-HIT, DID I GET SLUNG. I went from fat dumb and happy flying straight and level to as if I yanked full right brake toggle to stall the right side of the wing. And just as soon as it hit me, it let me go. I only lost about 200ft. No collapse.
Y'alls wake is no fkin joke. When I see you coming I immediately do the wind calc and alt in my head and either climb or dive . To get over it or under....but never around the same level.....especially heavies.

I almost had a close-call with a police helicopter in Nashville. Genius decided to not be on any frequency, under the Bravo and doing his circles over the numerous hospitals in the area. |

Cessna pilot was a doctor, RIP. One report said he 'lost control' on short final and hit the helicopter which was off to the side of the runway. |

Can probably count on one hand the amount of LEO ops that also do MEDEVAC (concurrently).
There may be 2 hands worth that are set up for CASEVAC. |

Not many pilots live to talk about their midair…………….We’ll probably never know, but, I’m betting there is more to the story. Pilot incapacitation, or was it intentional? |

I imagine the doctors family will be filling a huge lawsuit against the psp. Don't know what the exact circumstances were. The aircraft on approach has the right of way. Heck we always moved far from the edge of a runway in a helicopter if we heard a light aircraft on approach. Just common sense.

How does he know that? Quite possibly, they were communicating, and that Cessna Pilot knew about the helicopter, but decided to land anyway! Juan was quick to make such assumptions here! |
