All this industry is is scraps. Not a career, just for gypsies moving along from one company to the next, fighting over your scraps thrown at you. What’s this job pay what’s that job pay, hey a new base, hey a new fire contract, hey they bought a new helicopter. Hey I get to fly Bell 429!! Constant dysfunction, constant dissatisfaction. You guys chose a CRAP career. Meanwhile the airline guys are making 500k, living in multi million dollar homes, and retiring comfortably. Bad decisions have consequences |

This topic recycles every few weeks and has for years. I have never once seen a post contain a salary schedule from even one airline nor from the airline pilots union. Personally I know one Frontier Captain. He make less than I do and his wife’s mom lives with them to make ends. |

If you want to fly planes, fly planes.
I wanted to fly helicopters, so I do. I live in the suburbs where I want, I make comfortably more than the average family around here, life is good.
If you're not happy, do something to change it. You don't have to always come to JH and post the same thing over and over. Pulling people down doesn't make you taller, amigo. |

Seems to me that you are the one whining. The last guy said he was happy and you come back with more whining. I too never ever had an interest in flying airplanes. I will live the rest of my life happy while you complain and cry about everything. |

the average salary in the us is 69k. I would say the average 5 year helicopter pilot is making over 6 figures. in 2007 I was making 80k in the gom at my first job after instructing. yes, I worked some ot but not a crazy amount. hung it up last year making about 180k as an ems pool pilot. 200k is easily attainable. 3 times the average wage were scraps I was happy to pick up. |
