Honestly the military is drying up as a source of new pilots and I hope the industry is paying attention. Fewer pilots being trained in general and even the pilots who are trained are leaving with less flight time since they’re competing with automation and drones. Companies better start branching out to flight schools of push to allow financial aid for training because it’s only going to get worse for hiring managers. |

Training departments at commercial operators need to SERIOUSLY consider re-thinking how they onboard this next generation coming out of the military too.
Students over the past 5-10 years from those programs have been allowed through with lower standards and less required knowledge of the profession (FAR/AIM, charts, basic nav, etc.).
It's not hopeless, but there needs to be concerted effort to get them up to standard to be trusted in commercial aircraft missions (especially single pilot!). |

EMS helicopters out there anyway. And too many un-necessary transports.' Almost 4 decades as a helo pilot and I never had an "unnecessary transport". I'm a pilot, my job is to fly the helicopter according to the contract and customer request. Have I ever, in those decades flown an "unnecessary transport"? Some of those flights were empty. I flew a contract during which the customer instructed me to fly around completely empty to add hours to the bill- because any decrease in flight hour billing would signal that the demand was diminishing,,, Guess what I did? I flew the maneuvers that I wasn't allowed with passengers. No complaints, nobody scared and screaming and a pilot- me, who knew the bird better. HEMS is like Part 121 flying. Boring but safe as one can make it while responding to whatever, whenever and wherever one is requested. When you are not just the pilot and you're paying for the flight you can do what you like. "He who pays the piper calls the tune". |

“Our goal is to reduce pilot workload so crews can maintain more eyes-out awareness in a tactical situation,” Deanna DiBernardi, Boeing’s H-47 Human Factors Engineering lead, said in the company’s statement. |

The point here, I think, is not to crash when delivering a payload or personnel when in the midst of a white or brown out. Especially under fire. N'cest pas? |
