Been talking to the skycrane chief pilot about going to work there. The offer seems good and he promised to fast track me to crane captain within 1 year. This seems like a short amount of time for a 1000 plus hour newbie. Any insider information on this company would be appreciated as i don't want to jump into an unsafe situation. TIA

While JH Forums is easy and fun to troll, you still have to put in a little effort, my friend. You’ve got the right idea as far as your target… older guy toward the top of the utility sector who’s “paid his dues” but can’t afford to retire and would be outraged that someone might stand a chance of moving into “his” seat. But you have to make it slightly more believable. Newbie moving into the CA seat in a Skycrane?  I think if you leave out the part that you’re relatively new, but add a strong hint that you built all your hours in tours or EMS and that you’ve already been hired at said company into something less robust and single-pilot and that THEN a fast track to the crane was hinted at….. well THEN you might stand a chance of getting the old codger’s blood pressure up a bit. Maybe throw in a sprinkling of hot-button-divisive-political-issue, and you’ll REALLY send him over the top.

Took it from my phone just the other day (knowing you'd bring it up, since you are so predictable).

Just aim the phone viewer and it has a vertical compass card to tell you the heading, just like all the other vertical compass card presentations out there.

well the new catch phrase is PIC Trainee Program. But this will not replace the requirements to act as PIC on some of the overseas contracts. I will be years for a new guy to get the hours required. It's designed to keep the SIC pipeline filled with enough people to eventually have a hand full of PIC candidates. Good luck to you and the other Robbie rangers out there.

I cant think of a better way to fu ok up a good aircraft thanputting a 1000 pilot as captain and pairing him with a 250 hour meat servo.  You would have to be stupid tomeven think about a captain position with that low of a time.

and the TWO recent engine failures are the result of putting little boys AND girls in the captain seat instead of someone that has done this for more than a month. it is taking longer than expected for the colby lightbulb to illuminate
