It was a weekend and the unit was assigned to take the Ft Eustis skydiving club folks up for a few jumps. It had a cargo pod tucked up in its "belly". It took off, and climbed straight up to 12,000 ft over the airfield, without making a turn.
I was very impressed |

Seen the CH47 quite a bit up close, but it’s nothing special. The crane on the other hand, really neat. |

When i was a kid i used to see the CT army guard fly by w the ch54's. Was always 3 or 4 in a loose flight. I blame them for my career choice lol |

Loved this machine. Got to fly it in Vietnam. Had no guns so we usually got a two gunship escort. I'll trade two M-60's for two gun ships any time of the day. |
