SO in the history of the world, never has a company rolled out pay adjustments in step form on a percentage scale whereby the employee does a self-evaluation on themselves and how they rate themselves is how much they are gonna get F-U-C-K-E-D.

That's right.  No supervisor was involved in the performance evaluations.  It was solely left up to the individual EMPLOYEE to boast and rate themselves a 5.

Smart move PHI, none of your employees are going to give themselves hi marks because they are but humble mechanics.

SO I myself scored, like everyone else I'm sure ...a 2.88. (meets expectations) how it was worded.

Little did I know Friday's coming pay raise is gonna be scaled on that score.  Had I known that, I would have given myself a 5.  So would everyone else.

WHY the F-U-C-K are we rating ourselves to begin with?

That's a supervisor's job. Period.

When I first started in the field working for PETE Buscemi, he pulled me in the office to tell me he was bumping me up 2 steps effective immediately.  Wow, how the company has changed.  AMAZING!

I've always been a top performer, 5's on every AIR FORCE enlisted performance report evaluation for 7 years.  Deserved, no BS made up crap like most of them are.

Now, thinking I was gonna be topped out finally this year....after 25 years....they just moved the goal posts.  You think I'm getting that last step?  Doubtful.  I don't even know if the step even exists anymore.

PHI, I'm gonna need you to do better.

You just took morale to a whole new low.

when year over year you only ever see 1%

and inflation is 20%

do you think it really matters?

PHI has always low balled mechs.

It's in the play book.

WHY do you think in 2002 they had to play catch up and give all of AVIONICS a 19% raise in the month of MAY?

This is what they do.  1% here 1.2% there....before you know it you are scratching making peanuts for the last 15 years, the competition offers 10% more pay a year, people jump ship, then PHI has to come across with matching or better to keep the people they have left from leaving also.

It's cyclical.

https://www.cato.org/blog/yes-californias-fast-food-minimum-wage-law-has-killed-thousands-jobs

The national inflation crisis can be traced back to California first giving $16 min wage to flip burgers.

Then $20 an hour to do the same job.

This is unsustainable.

You can't keep bringing non-skilled folks up to levels where career folks are getting paid......it's gonna DESTROY the economy.....with inflation.

I say we overthrow the government in Cali, burn the entire place to the ground.  And sell it back to Mexico.  Fk that place.

No one, not even conservative economists, believe Friedman was correct in thinking minimum wage stifled employment. Many studies have shown that the opposite is true. Friedman believed in no minimum wage sure but also in a negative income tax meaning persons below a certain income would actually receive money during tax time, something I'm sure the CATO Institute (heavily bought by corporations and owned by the conservative equivalents to George Soros, Fred and Charles Koch) would very much not agree with.

Regardless, how do you explain the many states that have similar wages for fast food workers yet still the federal minimum wage of $7.25? For example, even Mississippi starts at $10.50.

We should definitely leave the national minimum wage where it was 20 years ago despite inflation... just pennies in raises every year. Because that's a GREAT way to take care of employees

That's why Californians want an open border for illegal aliens. No need to go back to the national lower minimum wage when you have slave labor doing all your minimum wage tasks.

When I worked for Reach/CalStar pilots would do our own evaluation.. which we discussed with our Lead Pilot who discussed with the ACP.... to decide if you would get your annual pay bump...  basically if you were not on a PIP or some other action you would get it....

People on here arguing over scraps. What difference amounts to a few dollars and hour more in pay will do when those at the top add hundreds of dollars an hour equivalent to their pay annually. But go ahead, keep working and crying about those scraps.

Has given me High praise.

Even the one who came over from another base (CK) who never met me and initially said he'd trade me for a Chris Hebert in a heart beat.....eventually changed his tune when year over year I continued to prove my worth by fixing and troubleshooting $#!+ no one else could figure out.  Not knocking Chris, he's awesome....taught me lots.

It's always the same tho.  First, They doubt me, then they praise me.  Mostly for the ideas I come out of the box with to try they never thought of.

Once upon a time I was being punished for not agreeing to take a position in the field they needed filled.  I was comfortable doing my thing, getting $#!+done on nights in the hangar at the big P in Laffy.  I was basically my own boss. Nightshift hours, no bosses around hovering,  Doing completions in heavyship and going across the way to help the heliport with anything they needed troubleshooting.  It was a match made in heaven....,  A dream job really.

But they wanted me in Houma, on the new BP Houma contract and all them new 92's.  I was too comfortable where I was.....so they made it UNCOMFORTABLE for me.

Stripped me from my position as the permanent Heavyship nights avionics tech, doing completions and troubleshooting , to DAYSHIFT, lightship, wire monkey.  That's how they getcha.  They knew I hated days.

I played along.....for a year.

Then one day a 76 with a generator problem comes in from the field.....burning up DC controllers.

You know it's bad if they can't get it fixed out there and have to fly it up to Laffy.  They hate taking it off contract.

Anyway,

I watched them boys struggle for 3 days and get no where troubleshooting that bird.  Finally Heavyship avionics supervisor (LA)comes over, asks me to stay late.....break day mind you.....to help troubleshoot.....they really need to get this pig fixed and out the door cuz they breathing down his neck.  Now he was instructed to shun me, have me in the punished corner working on simple simon bullcrap and not allow me to work on heavies anymore for my penance, but he decided to break that executive order and come get me....he was desperate.  I agreed and we had that aircraft fixed in 3 hours.  Say wut, if you doubt this one bit I WILL COME FIND YOU AND SHOVE A TORQUE WRENCH IN YOUR A-SS.  Yes, three hours mf-ukers, we , WE, had it fixed.  Not I. Because I had help as I was crammed in a tight a-ssed compartment with my head in a DC Junction box and I'm barking orders to the man with the print on the table of "OK what to look at next.!"  That's how you fix $#!+ one guy has to get dirty a-ss deep in a relay panel and another guy has to be on a table looking at the print.  It's The only way.

SO, we got her back online up and running on the gen test bay.  Come to find out they had a wire on a relay they had changed some weeks back,  that was just one spot off from where that wire was supposed to go, 21 should have been on 22 or something to that effect.  Attention to detail...just happened to notice it......that's what the AF trained ..attention to detail.  And that's the reason they call me the MF Guru.....because I inspect everything and count wires and verify wire numbers are where they are supposed to go like a meticulous freak with OCD.  Why are there 3 wires on this post? there's only, spoossed to be 2....and $#!+ like that.

So yeah, Merit.  Let's talk about that pay raise....

Government and corporate greed allows for SERIOUS waste and allowing senior management to make 50-90% more than their employees (where a 10% raise has nearly exponential impact). Noticed this the other day: San Fansisco's going to spend over $800 MILLION on homelessness and yet only has 8K homeless people. And they can't seem to figure out how to help them out with a loveable salary and resources to get their lives back on track??? Over $100K per homeless person... there's some money filling some greedy pockets. Just one small example of waste, much less your boss who is an idiot yet gets payed 3 times you do and makes thousands more in bonus despite your few hundred a quarter in profit sharing bonus...
