A lot of folks like Metro...my experience with them, while not super terrible, was absolutely in line with what so many here have mentioned. I was hired, was commuting and providing my own off-duty housing, and it was eating me alive; that's ok, I reasoned, after 6 months of showing them I can do the job and be a "valuable member of the family" they'll be open to discussing a change. Actually waited until 9 months and brought it up to the RAM--he literally laughed when I said I couldn't provide my own apartment anymore and would the company pitch in?! I pointed out that not only could I use it but so could roam mechanics for heavy maintenance, visiting Metro execs, etc. Another laugh! My resignation came about 5 seconds later. Any company that is willing to throw away a good employee (liked and trusted by med crews and hospital management, easy on the equipment and showing a record of doing the flights that can be done safely and efficiently) over a few dollars is asinine! So instead, they had to provide a float pilot, pay per diem, pay for a hotel room, pay for a rental car etc etc AND start the hiring process all over for the base---with no idea if a new guy/gal would work out! CRAZY CRAZY CRAZY!!! |
