They couldn't afford gas  

In a 2008 Dodge Ram crew cab extended bed co. truck that I Smashed 6 piglets with.  Sure it got your standard v8 gas mileage doing 82 from Lafayette all the way to galveston every week, twice on Thursdays....but they still took it back and made us drive our own vehicles.

Real f'ed up too, because the signon "bonus" for my Buddy Greg, who worked opposite me, "the real A.Guru" btw.....He lives in Alabama and makes that commute all the way to Galveston every week.  I got him back on at the big P because I specifically requested he be rehired, other wise I would quit right then and there if they put anyone else opposite me.  SO he got hired back on, and they really didn't wanna, because they had already laid him off when the money bugs decided all topped out dinosaurs had to go.  One of those previous force reduction layoffs........anyway.  Yeah, they told Greg he could Pit stop in Laffy, a halfway point from Alabama, and jump in the Co. Truck and continue on the way to G-town on company gas.  

Well, shortly after I massacred a whole family of marsh hogs somewhere between high island and winnie in that truck and caved the front bumper.....that they never properly repaired by the way.....  They took the truck, parked it, and told us we'd be driving our own vehicles.  Told us to show up in Galveston at the beginning of the hitch and we no longer had to cover Erath and Lft base.  

That was fine with me.  I hated driving I-10 and it was a win win as far as I was concerned.  Greg got the s-hitty end of the stick on that deal because now he had to motor his car ...the whole way.  THat poor car.  Every week.....back and forth Alabama ...not just the state line either, like mussel shoals area.

He's still making that drive.

Doing twice the work now that I'm gone.

For the same pay I'm sure.
