It really depends on what your issue is. There are plenty of AME’s out there that will help you and plenty more that just issue to people only if it’s easy.

Having been through the SI experience I didn’t find APOA much help. Eventually I found an AME who is a cardiologist and a pilot. 

No matter what expect the FAA medical board to take several months to decide anything.
