Entire industry is a joke   

you can get a special issuance for just about anything. the FAA is super careful, as they should be. towers are not part time due to controller shortages. the accident rate has gone down significantly. if you don't feel you have adequate training, EVERY company I ever worked for would do extra traing and whatever you wanted at anytime to get you comfortable. you do not have to pick up extra shifts. what they do or did in the military is irrelevant. every thing you said was wrong but other than that, good post
