Their official reasoning is for N95 mask seal, so COO, DO, CP, RAMs (or I guess DAFOs now, lol) and IPs are exempt since they don't fly the line. I've also had a beard while in Denton, but since it's during my off-week where I'm not flying the line they don't care. I've definitely heard of RAMs telling pilots in my area to shave during surprise visits. >_>

Wish they'd just let us sign a waiver saying we relinquish liability for any airborne illnesses we catch... The masks seal just fine as long as you don't have a mountain man beard. I'm fine shaving once a year for the actual fit test since it's an OSHA requirement for the testing, but every ER I walk into, almost every guy - including the doctors - all have beards (and sometimes actual mountain man beards)
