EMS helicopters out there anyway. And too many un-necessary transports.' Almost 4 decades as a helo pilot and I never had an "unnecessary transport". I'm a pilot, my job is to fly the helicopter according to the contract and customer request. Have I ever, in those decades flown an "unnecessary transport"? Some of those flights were empty. I flew a contract during which the customer instructed me to fly around completely empty to add hours to the bill- because any decrease in flight hour billing would signal that the demand was diminishing,,, Guess what I did? I flew the maneuvers that I wasn't allowed with passengers. No complaints, nobody scared and screaming and a pilot- me, who knew the bird better. HEMS is like Part 121 flying. Boring but safe as one can make it while responding to whatever, whenever and wherever one is requested. When you are not just the pilot and you're paying for the flight you can do what you like. "He who pays the piper calls the tune". |
