I've abandoned my homemade design recently for their noise canx ear cups and mic boom.  I can make you tube vids now with the motor blaring full throttle on my back now and it just works, no more post edit audio detach needed.  You only hear my voice, and clearly on the recordings.  

The noise canx targets only the high db and freq range of the motor and prop.  I'm positive it would work well for Helicopter.
