Just imagine flying to the moon and back only to be killed by a helicopter pilot. Getting hit in the head with a hoist hook. The problem is; NASA likes Kodak moments. The five minute flight was a good picture drama with all the risk for the camera. A 30 minute flight to shore does make more sense after spending two hours inflating the front porch. Live load certification is lacking everywhere. It doesn't matter if your with a police/rescue unit, or the 160 SO The CG has over-water experience as well as hoist time. The second best option would be a contract production tree operator. Hire a pro with experience. I can just imagine the Navy pilots being picked based on rank, who they knew or family ties.
