That's the cost of the Artemis II mission as of 2025 just to do a fly-by of the moon. We did the same mission before when we called humans "computers". For real, kids, look it up. In the 80's, the space shuttle landing guidance system circuit board was less than a scientific calculator today (and not even a TI-82 graphing/engineering calculator). Elon Musk says 5 years from now we'll be doing manned space flight to Mars (in something completely different than the Orion capsule used on this trip)... yet we NEEDED to do a flyby before landing this time? With the exponential leap in technology since then, we needed to do a ridiculously expensive flyby first?how to land the space shuttle
