In 1980 I made 35K, which would equal around 135K today.

I have no idea how the PHI union works or worked. Personal anecdote, and I have no idea if this is or was the mentality or culture of the PHI pilot group. But back in my HEMS days, I ran into this PHI Air Med pilot. We were both waiting on our medcrews to finish up inside the hospital and return to the aircraft. This dude went on and on about how much money he had made/saved over the years and all his toys and stuff. He was a retired military Officer, so this was a retirement job for him. But the shocking part was this guy bragging about how he had helped hurt his union and helped break their strike by picking up flying during said strike. I was clueless that PHI pilots had ever struck. I have no idea about the company’s history. But what shocked me the most was this guy who was PROUD to have flown struck work and took pride in the fact that he had helped his company break a strike. The dude was PROUD to be a f—ing scab. |
