Maybe in the case of the DO not having a medical they met the requirements within the last 6 yrs of becoming a DO (3 yrs experience as a Pilot in Command) unless I read this wrong ?

) In the case of a person becoming a Director of Operations — (3)(i) For the first time ever, does the individual have at least 3 years experience, within the past 6 years, as pilot in command of a large airplane operated under part 121 or part 135, if the certificate holder operates large airplanes? If the certificate holder uses only small airplanes in its operation, the experience may be obtained in either large or small airplanes.
