It’s so funny to read some guys on here that are SO sure this is impossible. To those that are doing it 200k on year 2 is like easy living, not grinding. Last year (year 4, big 3 pax carrier WB FO) made a bit over 365k (without 401k direct contribution) and really didn’t work hard AT ALL. To the guy who is so sure there is no way this guy can do it with 12 days/month - you’re missing a lot of stuff in your block only argument. I can get paid a lot more than block - get bought off a trip for training, premium trips (50%, 75%, 100%), soft time on trips (deadhead adds pay credit, but not block), strategic use of sick call, etc. Too lazy to go through all the specifics for last year, but this year so far (paid in arrears, so DEC is first pay for the year):

Month:    Credit:    Days Worked:

DEC        134:14    16

JAN         94:20      11

FEB         95           14

MAR       104:02      7

APR        98:38       16

MAY        79:20       8

So… first 6 months this year, 605:32 - that’s $178,262.69 just flight pay. With per diem and profit sharing, I’m at $206,310.44 for 6 months - 72 days worked, 108 off, averages 18/month off (using rough math 6 months/180 days). Don’t forget, direct contribution into 401k, so another $37,307 or $6,200/month deposited into your 401k regardless of your contribution. Yes, that’s year 5 vs 2, but really… when we see a guy say he made 200k, our first thought is poor guy…

And to Mr. “Delta doesn’t even pay that much”. AA, DL, UA contracts are pretty much identical regarding flight pay. Only posting this to show how insanely easy it is to make money in this industry - once you’ve made it. It isn’t always a straight line and/or easy to get there (for some lucky ones with really good timing it was) but scoffing at a 2-year FO because there’s no way he can make 200k and average 12 days work/month?!?! Some of you have NO idea about this industry. Keep the recliner warm…
