To add what a previous post said, a lot of the job depends on the base(s) and the program.  Will you be filling in for a mech that's out on vacation or some other reason or because the base you are sent to doesn't have a full time mechanic.

Some programs might require you to drive to a number of different bases in a day for one reason or another, what do they need?

If the bases you are going to are a real mess, meaning you fix the aircraft then ramco then consummables then the inventory then order what's missing then get blamed for things that aren't right, not much fun.

Visit the base(s) if possible, talk to the staff if possible and listen to your gut instinct.  It can be a decent place to work depending on your work ethic and what you are looking for.
