I'll say this when no others will.

Todays new generation of Helicopter Pilots seem to think it's cool to bring todays technology into the Cockpit or Box Office if you perfer, cell phones pluged into your helmet, I-pads on your knee, and whatever else you're doing to stay connected while you're flying. It's all just distracting you from the serious job you should be doing, just like texting and driving is killing your friends everyday.

In my career of 40+years of utility, I tuned my ears and attention solely to the machine I was flying 100% of the time, listening for a bearing starting to sing, or some other noticible change, and would never allow the distractions to enter my brain as seems to be happening these days.

Just putting this out there as a seed for you new guys to consider, so you too can enjoy old age and retirement some day.
