I have been doing EMS for about 17 years. My advice is, don't do it. It's been fun, but in the end, I'd do something different. 

HAA will never be able to compete with the airlines when it comes to pay. As for the schedule and time away from the family, I can't say since I haven't done that. But, anything aviation requires a lot of time away.
