My Dad was the pilot. He had extensive training as an Apache pilot in the Army,(served 19 years) then became an instructor pilot. He earned a bronze star for the safe landing of a blackhawk with no tail rotor and massive damage with zero loss of life. He then flew EMS helicopters for close to 20 years. He was a kick-ass pilot. There had to be a catastrophic reason he couldn't land. I torture myself with the unknown everyday 😥
