THere is quite a lot of that going on right now.  I know three different guys who have gotten notices from the FAA about the Disability question on the medical form.  I'm not sure how the FAA is getting around the HIPPA laws.  I seem to recall a California FSI doing the same thing a while back and a couple of pilots sueing the FAA about the violation of their HIPPA confidentiality.  As I recall, they won their cases.  

I was 100% disabled for 5 years when I left the Army due to a bout of cancer.  I needed to prove I was cancer free for 12 months before I could apply for a medical.  I answered that question and explained my circumstances.  Since then I've answered "yes" and Previously Reported No Change.  I haven't heard a thing from the FAA.
