Not sure if you really want an answer but I'm bored sitting here OOS for no crew so I'll give you an answer. When I started in HEMS I did a year with AMC and it was ok, but micromanaged. Everyone local was great, everyone above a RAM/RAD was not the best. I went to PHI and literally every part of the job was better. Maintenance, aircraft, pay, benefits, training, no union dues, closer to home, etc... I was very happy. Then we missed a step raise, then we missed another one. Then they rolled out 360 and started losing crew left and right. Then we lost mechanics, then we missed another step raise. There was a chapter 11 bankruptcy somewhere in there too. Things used to be different here, I have to imagine that's why a lot of us are here. Why are we still here? Seniority, likely. Get the base you want and it's hard to leave. Why do new people join up and fill slots nowadays? I honestly don't know. Fingers crossed they find a buyer this year and we can join the rest of the operators being paid in line with demand.
