That's actually a really good question.There may not be a specific FAR about preflight, but I THINK it might be assumed; as there's one that mentions PIC responsibility for the aircraft being in a safe condition to operate. And that probably leans on the preflight inspection being a Normal Procedure. I dunno... those are just my thoughts. Anyone else, please feel free to differ.
