So, very very extended and familiar and whatever family reunion, I get asked what I 'did' for a living.  Said I can't remember, I've been retired forever, at which someone exclaims I flew helicopters.   

Sooooooooooooo.............................all the head nodding and typical 'helicopter pilots suck and don't make much money to afford a family' and aaaaaalllllllllllll the rest of the ignorance.  

Sooooooooooooo..............................I inquire if anyone likes drone footage, and, everyone lightens up and exclaimed yes, oh yes, yes (almost like you know what) at which point I tell them that is what flying helicopters for half a century was like - the silence was, er, again, deafening.

I failed to entertain conversations.

Loved it.

Something to be remembered when everyone is talking about the virtues of being trapped at 35,000 ft looking at the same color out the wind screen and the same instrument panel, and the same.................

Point being, long live helicopter flying!
