I would say that's one reason why many of these narcissists end up committing mass shootings: attention. They will never attain it any other way as they are mediocre people with mediocre minds, shunned by others and feel their greatness has gone tragically and unfairly unrecognized. In other words: spoiled losers. The perceived unfairness of it all drives them over the edge.

He will now pretend not to know what any of this means and will say it's a word salad.
