Message Air Evac of Tulsa (NOT Airevac) name is different, operated a new 76C+, In 1998, it could fly from Tulsa to Idabel (about 150 NM one way) IFR, load patient, and fly back to Tulsa, IFR, with reserves.. If a 412 could have done that, they would have had a 412.
Costly? Yes, but it could do what they wanted, so there is that. Yes Hillcrest Hospital did hold a Part 135 certificate and had seventeen (or more) propritary GPS Approaches at outlying hospitals. Pretty slick operation really.
