Interesting but seems like there is several reasons this type of auto is not very useful. First of all an engine failure in flight that requires no maneuvering is exceptionally rare. Next, the rotor speed has to be clearly in the mid green to insure enough rotor inertia for the landing. Finally, there is no room for any mistake at the bottom of the auto. Rotor rpm must be good, landing spot good, and final pitch pull must be perfect.

All in all, it just seems the usefulness is overshadowed by the drawbacks.
