Around 2000 the Flight Ops committee got reorganized such that it's control loosened and participation widened in a spectacular fashion.  Meetings went from 20 minutes of jabber to great agendas that drew national and international recognition.  It became the place to get things done and results to market.  FAA collaboration with industry went to high gear.
