Message Catastrophic component failure
Pilot heart attack
Suicide by helicopter
IIMC Uncontrolled Flight Into Terrain (UFIT) was wx a factor
A fellow PHI pilot had the back end of his 407 get cut off by its own tail rotor. Although the resulting nose-down was extreme, he was able to get it level before landing on the water. In a 206 that would probably be a fatal.
The RLC pilot was fairly young, so while a physiological event can't be ruled out, it's not highly probable.
Nobody knows. Let's hope it wasn't a catastrophic failure of some kind. Bird-strike seems like it would be high on the list of "maybe's." We'll see.
