The problem is that, despite immense evidence to the contrary, most of us are not one-dimensional. We love helicopters but they don't consume us. We have other interests outside of the (appropriately named) c*ckpit (asterisk preemptively added just in case the JH automatic censor program doesn't like "c*ck.") And so, as in most pilot lounges, the conversation here sometimes turns to other things... Like the moral imperative to get some controversial vaccine. Or the very obvious screw-up that was our withdrawal from Afghanistanistan. Or how we elected a doddering, senile old fool as our President and an giant cackling imbecile as Vice President simply because we had a deep personal dislike for the Bad Orange Man. What you read here will convince you beyond a shadow of a doubt that helicopter pilots really aren't what anyone would call "deep thinkers."  It's funny, but it's also kind of sad.

Sometimes we do try to talk about helicopters, but the "experts" who know more than any of us ever will always chime in and whine, "That's been posted already, you a-hole," or "What could you possibly know about X, you a-hole?" Here's what I do: I always expand the thread. If I see it devolving into the usual mean-spirited nastiness that is the hallmark of this forum, I simply move on to another topic. After two tries, I just X-out of this sewer and click on PPRUNE, where the pilots are just as arrogant/nasty, but being British, they're sometimes more polite about it than us.
