Not true. The lead pilot at my base, before I got there, was the only base pilot. He stayed on duty for 14 hours every day, then the base was out of service from 2100 - 0700. He did that for less than 3 months, otherwise he would have to have 13 days off in a row. By then they had filled in the rest of the base pilot roster.
