Original Message Yeah, it'll increase training and total cost of the military. The benefit is greater than increasing the size of the military, it will make the citizenry aware of the issues of military service. The professionals actively serving aren't and never will be of sufficient numbers for any actual war. They are the experienced cadre that will train the citizen soldiers necessary to win that war. There will always be political violence somewhere imn the world that may require the American military in some capacity, and that will provide combat experience for that cadre. You would be surprised at the numbers that prefer combat to stateside Mickey Mouse... |
