Pay attention to what's happening in life and learn to be prepared.  It's not hard and you don't have to be real smart.  People who know me are well aware of the "smart" thing.  Just pay attention, stop whining about not having money and find a way to save a few bucks regulary and when it's time to retire you'll be able to support yourself in retirement.
