It's your responsibility to show up for work, not your boss.  You could have left earlier to get to work, after all as a pilot you should be able to utilize a weather forecast to get from point A to point B.

I hope those words are not on your headstone. Sometimes, the best decision is NOT TO GO at all. 

Almost any 150 hour commercial pilot can complete 99.9% of the landings required. An HEMS pilot is paid to know what, where, when and how to complete a request or turn it down. Turning it down is the hardest call to make.
