Stop pointing at the un controllables.   You decided to retire and live in a particular place.   If your living off SS and savings and a part time job it sounds like you did not retire but changed jobs.   For what ever reason....    In my mind you delt your own cards many years ago and did not set up for the finish you wanted...  dont blame others.   

The cost of everything in life regardless of what powers it will go up over time and your income will change very little...
